REQUEST TO PURCHASE A US SAILING NUMBER FROM SCYA INFORMATION:

You must be a member of an SCYA Member Yacht Club to purchase your number here
SCYA only assigns 4 and 5 digit random numbers
- for any other configuration, see US Sailing’s website
Average response time after all requirements are met is five (5) business days
Sail numbers will be emailed to the email address provided

When a boat is sold, the sail number goes with it
If you sell the boat, you purchase a boat, or own a boat that becomes unusable with the sail number on it

US SAILING OFFICIAL INFORMATION ABOUT SAIL NUMBERS

Appendix G of the Racing Rules of Sailing, with US Sailing prescriptions, specifies that official sail numbers must be displayed on the mainsail, all overlapping headsails over 130% and all spinnakers
National letters, “USA”, are required if participating in international events
Numbers are only official if issued by US Sailing or a class organization as specified in Appendix G
Boats displaying unofficial sail numbers are subject to protest

RACING RULES OF SAILING INFORMATION ABOUT SAIL NUMBERS

At minimum, 10″ or 12″ sail numbers for boats to 22 feet on the waterline
At minimum, 15″ numbers for boats to 32 feet
At minimum, 18″ numbers for larger boats
Note: #6 is the same as #9. Numbers available in 10″, 12″, 15″ or 18″ heights

Report to SCYA that you have sold your vessel so your number may be transferred to the new owner or removed from the US Sailing database of active numbers.
