REQUEST TO PURCHASE A US SAILING NUMBER FROM SCYA INFORMATION:
- You must be a member of an SCYA Member Yacht Club
- SCYA only assigns 4 and 5 digit random numbers
- for any other configuration, see US Sailing’s website
- Average response time after all requirements are met is five (5) business days
- Sail numbers will be emailed to the email address provided
US SAILING OFFICIAL INFORMATION ABOUT SAIL NUMBERS
- Appendix G of the Racing Rules of Sailing, with US Sailing prescriptions, specifies that official sail numbers must be displayed on the mainsail, all overlapping headsails over 130% and all spinnakers
- National letters, “USA”, are required if participating in international events
- Numbers are only official if issued by US Sailing or a class organization as specified in Appendix G
- Boats displaying unofficial sail numbers are subject to protest
RACING RULES OF SAILING INFORMATION ABOUT SAIL NUMBERS
- At minimum, 10″ or 12″ sail numbers for boats to 22 feet on the waterline
- At minimum, 15″ numbers for boats to 32 feet
- At minimum, 18″ numbers for larger boats
- Note: #6 is the same as #9. Numbers available in 10″, 12″, 15″ or 18″ heights
