SCYA’s GENERAL MEETING FEBRUARY 11TH, 2023

February’s SCYA general meeting speaker will be our very own SCYA Vice Commodore Kathy St. Amant. This story starts in April 2011 and ends in July.  She helped to deliver an early 1980’s Morgan 2-46 center cockpit ketch from San Pedro to Ko’Olina, Hawaii. To be concise, let us say that the boat was not in top condition for such a delivery. In the course of five…. YES five, attempts to make the delivery, a tow was involved for each one, from Avalon’s Harbor Patrol to a 250 mile tow by the United States Coast Guard into Lahaina. To hear Kathy tell this story will not only put you in stitches, but will also provide some solid pointers for preparing and completing such a long distance delivery.
